This week on Geek Devotions we are tackling the a question from our Facebook Group, Devoted Geek Life. This week’s question is “How do you know what God’s will is for your life?”
Question of the Week: What example in your life can you give where you were struggling with a situation in your life and God provided confirmation as to what to do?
For more information, see the show notes below the video.
So does one determine the will of God? In today’s episode Celeste brought it down to two points.
Read Your Bible
Really it’s that simple. If you read the scriptures then you are taking in the literal Word of God. The more you read the more you discover the heart beat of God. You discover His likes and His dislikes. This is the foundation of the process of understanding the will of God.
Pray and Listen
The second part of this process, prayer, is a little more difficult for many of us. Why? Because prayer is not a one way conversation between you and the divine. It is a two way street. The main problem is that many people don’t stop to listen. The old church phrase, “let us tarry in prayer,” is one that is lost modern culture. When seeking the Lord in prayer, you need to stop listen. Yes he may speak to you through the scriptures or through a word given by someone near to you, but either way, listen.
