Currently, there’s a lot of fear surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This episode of Geek Devotions is going to be a bit different than others. In this episode, Dallas is speaking from a pastoral perspective, how to handle the fear that is surrounding not just COVID-19, but other aspects of life.

We had a very different devotion planned but with some of the things happening in the world today as of March 13th 2020, we felt that this topic needed to be brought up. Yes the atmosphere is not great and people are buying up all the toilet paper, but devotion for today is one that is good for any time frame in history.

So how do I handle fear when everyone around me is going crazy? Well we have two points that lead into one big point.

  • 1.As Believers in Jesus we are commanded to seek God, and this is how we handle fear. When you are not seeking God you are more susceptible to fear.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 34:4(ESV)
  • 2. As we seek God we are supposed to seek Him in His word, The Bible, allowing what is in the scriptures to effect us.

“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

Psalm 94:19
  • 3.Make God our Focus.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold[a] of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1
  • Matthew 8
  • Mark 8
  • Luke 4

In this story you see Jesus rebuking the disciples, He was not rebuking them for having fear but for allowing that fear to override their understanding of what God can do.

  • 4.Do not allow fear to override your faith in God.
