This Christmas, we want to give back in a special way. We are doing a comic book drive for roughly 40 kids and teenagers at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, LA! Why? One of our founders, Dallas Mora, was a patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, starting from age six months to age 18. By four years old, Dallas had already had many surgeries to correct his feet. Dallas has long held the belief that he would not be able to walk today if not for the work of the doctors and staff at Shriners.

One of the things that helped Dallas during the healing process, especially during his last two surgeries, was comic books. Comics and Manga were a way for Dallas to escape the pain and discomfort and dream of something fantastic and inspire him to be someone who can help others even if he was a bit different. Comic books have been a large part of Dallas’ life, and we want to share the joy inspiration with others.

If you’d like to help, you can drop off comic books, graphic novels, and manga at one of our two drop-off points, Excalibur Comics, Cards & Games, or The Healing Place in Shreveport, LA!  Please mark comics that are for kids and those that are for teenagers. Please keep them age-appropriate and also please no horror comics.

How does this work; Pick up some comics that are for kids and/or some that are for teenagers. Make sure they are age-appropriate and not considered scary. Drop them off at one of our two drop off locations. Done!

Thank you so much for taking the time to help us bring some joy into the lives of the children and teens at Shriners Hospitals for Kids.
