This morning on Extra Tuesday continues the conversation of a couple of our videos from this past week and clarifies a few things!

This week on Extra Tuesday we’d like to continue the conversation from our past Geek Devotion and Latest episode of Comm Talk.

Switching Churches Like You’re Switching Games

In this particular Geek Devotion, Dallas is speaking to the issue of people jumping from church to church. Here he is encouraging people to be committed to a local body of believers and strive to help build that community.

The rub with that is that often times if things get difficult due to disagreements or something else, they tend to just up and leave.  Some will make spiritual excuses like “God’s not there” or “The pastor just doesn’t go deep enough for me”  when reality they’ve simply been offended over one thing or another.

But is there an appropriate reason to leave a church? Does God call people to go else where? Yes, yes He does. The trick is that we need to take time to really listen to him and examine ourselves. “Is God really asking me to leave my church, or am I simply hurt about something and don’t want to put the effort in to bring resolution?”  Ask that question of yourself and be honest before you leave.

If it’s the Lord and He’s telling you to leave, do it correctly. Talk to the leadership and let them know what’s going on in your life.  Try to finish some of the things you’ve started, if nothing else raise up someone who can take it and finish it well. Also, if the Lord does ask you to not leave, prepare yourself, because the correction that needs to take place may require you to take the first step and apologize. That said, if you walk this out, you may be surprised to discover that you can indeed disagree and still be friends.

Comm Talk – Handing Over Geek Devotions

Now we  promise, it’s not as dramatic as it sounds. In all actuality, what is happening is we have been given the opportunity to take on the 2nd year students of The Healing Place School of Ministry and teach them about what we do here.  In the month of April they will be taking over our channel for what we are calling “Anime April.”  Last year the School of Ministry took over our channel and did “May Movie Madness!”

This episode is actually more about us talking through what it’s like to hand over something you’ve worked hard to build and make and trust those you’ve given it too. The real trick to it is changing your mindset. Many see ministries, jobs, etc that they have started and built up as “their own thing,” but reality is that they are the Lord’s thing. So the appropriate mindset is that we are stewards of something that belongs to God.
