In Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, we see some of the most powerful and heartbreaking stories unfold. Among them is the backstory of Akaza, one of the most infamous demons in the series. His tale is tragic, but it also carries an important reminder for us today about memory, faith, and the danger of forgetting where we came from.

Akaza’s Forgotten Past

In the movie, we learn that Akaza’s journey to becoming a demon was marked by betrayal, grief, and bad decisions made from a place of trying to do the right thing in the wrong way. Yet the most heartbreaking detail is this: Muzan stripped him of his memories. He forgot his father. He forgot his teacher. He forgot his fiancée. Everything good in his life was erased alongside the painful moments.

Without those memories guiding him, Akaza spiraled down a path he would later regret.

Scripture shows us repeatedly that remembering is vital. In Joshua 4, the Israelites set up stones of remembrance so future generations would know what God had done. All throughout the Old Testament, God tells His people to build altars and memorials so they won’t forget His faithfulness.

Why? Because memory anchors us. Even when life is painful, remembering what God has done helps us grow and strengthens our faith.

Learning From Our Own Stories

Like Akaza, it’s tempting to push painful memories into a corner and ignore them. But when we bury everything, we lose sight of God’s presence in our lives. Instead, Scripture encourages us to process the pain, acknowledge it, and then focus on how God was faithful in the midst of it.

Revelation 12:11 reminds us that we “overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” That means your story matters. Your testimony isn’t just for you; it’s a way to glorify God and encourage others.

The challenge this week is simple: don’t forget what the Lord has done in your life. Even if your past is messy or painful, look back and see how God moved in those moments. Share your story. Use it as a light to point others toward Him.

Your testimony, both the broken parts and the victories, can be the very thing that shows someone else that God is real, faithful, and loving.

💡 Encouragement for You: Don’t let your past define you, but don’t erase it either. Remembering how God has worked in your life will give you strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
