At Geek’d Con 2025, we had the privilege of sitting down with Brick Master Cade, the heart behind GEAUX BUILD Louisiana (GBLA). What started as a simple idea has grown into a powerful movement that uses LEGO bricks to build more than just towers and castles; it’s building hope, creativity, and community across Louisiana.

What is GEAUX BUILD Louisiana?

GEAUX BUILD Louisiana is a social group where people from all walks of life, entrepreneurs, physicians, teachers, artists, and families, come together around one simple thing: LEGO. They host events across the state, from daycares to memory care centers, giving everyone a chance to build, imagine, and connect. Their youngest builder is just 1½ years old, while their oldest is 105!

The group not only provides fun, free building opportunities for kids and families, but they also partner with differently-abled adults to provide meaningful work, such as sorting LEGO pieces. It’s creativity with a purpose, and it’s changing lives.

More Than Playtime

For Brick Master Cade, LEGO isn’t just a toy; it’s therapy, community, and a symbol of hope. He shared how LEGO helped him through challenging times in his own childhood, giving him a way to create something meaningful even when life felt uncertain. Today, GBLA carries that same spirit to children and adults across Louisiana, offering both fun and healing through what is called “homeopathic play therapy.”

Whether it’s a child moving from home to home who can carry a small LEGO set with them, or families in memory care centers finding joy through play, GEAUX BUILD Louisiana is proving that with a handful of plastic bricks, you can build something amazing.
