Geek’d Con is turning 10 YEARS OLD this year, and Shreveport is about to celebrate in style. Over the last decade, the convention has become a home for artists, cosplayers, vendors, and fans from across the Ark-La-Tex. For us, it’s always been about the people, the friendships, the creativity, and the community that gathers every August. Add in the fact that the last few years we’ve been blessed enough to have a booth on the con floor (come hang out btw), and the fun goes to a whole other level!

This year is packed with amazing guests and booths, but here are a few of our personal favorites whom we’ve had the opportunity to interview over the years that we think you should definitely check out.

Roland Paris – Legendary Comic Artist

No Geek’d Con would feel complete without Roland Paris. He’s been part of the show since the beginning, and his art has brought life to some of Marvel’s biggest heroes: Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men, Black Panther, and countless more. Roland isn’t just a guest; he’s family at this point, and it’s always a treat to catch up with him.

Donna Standridge – Midnight Chaos Cosplay

Known as Midnight Chaos, Donna Standridge is a cosplayer with more than 40 years of experience. Her foam builds and original designs are incredible, and she’s especially known for her World of Warcraft and fantasy-inspired work. But what makes Donna special is how she reminds everyone that cosplay is for all ages, it’s about passion, not limits.

John Stout – Kettlbriar Workshop

Around the convention scene, John Stout is known as Con Dad, and for good reason. His cosplay builds are massive and award-winning, from the Mayor of Halloweentown to Fallout’s Nukatron. But what really sets him apart is how he invests back into the community, donating prize money, hosting Cosplay Proms, and supporting other cosplayers. If you just need a con-dad to encourage you, stop by and meet John.

Ron McKinney – Studio BLESS

If you’re into art and animation, you need to visit Studio BLESS. Ron McKinney and his team create stunning, faith-based stories through animation and design. Their booth is going to be uplifting, full of hope-filled art that stands out on the floor.

Chris & Excalibur Comics, Cards, and Games

No Shreveport con is complete without Excalibur Comics. Chris and his crew are our go-to spot for comics, cards, collectibles, and games. Whether you’re hunting for a rare back issue, picking up a board game, or just want to flip through long boxes, their booth is worth the stop.

The Best Part – The Fans

At the end of the day, our favorite part of Geek’d Con isn’t on a guest list or vendor map, it’s the fans. The cosplayers, collectors, gamers, and families who come year after year are what make this convention so special. Geek’d Con wouldn’t be celebrating 10 years without this amazing community.
