Geek’d Con 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana, was an event to remember, filled with incredible cosplays, meaningful conversations, and a sense of community that left a lasting impact. As devoted geeks, we were thrilled to be part of this annual gathering, and we’re excited to share our experiences with you.

There was a sense of familiarity and comfort from the moment we arrived, almost like being home. This year, we had some genuinely heartwarming conversations. One such encounter was with a young lady who was anxious about her first cosplay competition. She had driven from out of town and was visibly nervous. Through our conversation, we encouraged and uplifted her. Our team intentionally spoke life into some of the areas she had doubts about. What was great was that she ended up winning the cosplay competition! Her joy and gratitude were palpable, and it was a reminder of why we do what we do – to speak hope and life into people’s lives.

Another memorable moment was with a young woman who returned to our booth multiple times because she felt seen and valued. She even returned on the last day just to say goodbye, which deeply touched our hearts. These connections make our work rewarding and affirm the importance of being present and attentive to those around us.

Of course, Geek’d Con wouldn’t be complete without the fantastic cosplays. From intricate designs inspired by “Labyrinth” to creative takes on “Splatoon” characters, the talent and dedication of the cosplayers were awe-inspiring. One of our favorites was a pair of Mandalorians with an army twist, showcasing their creativity and love for geek culture and their profession.

We also had the pleasure of meeting several devoted geeks who have been part of our community for years. It was wonderful to put faces to names and share the con’s excitement. Special shoutouts to Branson, John, Kevin, and all the other amazing people who made this event unforgettable.

In addition to the connections and cosplays, we managed to snag some fantastic merch. Celeste found some beautiful earrings and a handmade “Invader Zim” purse, while Dallas finally treated himself to “Gundam Thunderbolt” parts one and two, which he’d been eyeing for years.

As we reflect on Geek’d Con 2024, we’re filled with gratitude for the support and love from our community. Whether through moral support, financial contributions, or simply stopping by to say hi, each interaction has made a difference. We’re excited for what’s to come and look forward to continuing to spread the hope and love of Jesus in the geek world.
