Happy New Year, Geeks! For my first music review of 2024, I decided to dial it back a bit. Life is busy for a lot of us, and good rest is hard to come by. So, when I came across this album, goodnight., it was a refreshing reminder to stop and take a moment to breathe.
depthOblivIous is quite a versatile producer whose discography ranges across a wide electronic music spectrum. Thomas Sheltrown is a newcomer to the music scene, with this album being his first full-length project. Together, this duo of talented producers brings you eleven relaxing, lofi ambient tracks sure to help you chill out.

Though this album is primarily ambient, it does include an interesting mix of other electronic elements. Songs such as somnolence and go to sleep feature intense, upbeat synths, which make them feel like they’d fit into a trance playlist. Meanwhile, other songs such as dozing off (beneath the covers) and insomnia lean heavily into more minimalist, ambient soundscapes. This interesting mix creates a playlist you could both dance to and sleep to.
The production is solid across the album, save for a few parts that stuck out to me. The piano on lucid dreams (a waltz) felt somewhat out of place as it didn’t mix as smoothly as the rest of the production. Other than this outlier, however, the mixing flows pretty well, never jostling too suddenly between the atmospheric and more intense elements.
Overall, I give this album 4/5 Sleeping Giants converting to Orthodoxy. Some songs on this album would fit well in an EDM playlist, while most of them will make the perfect additions to your favorite study or sleeping playlist.
