Today on Geek devotions were going to be getting into an anime that Celeste has been slowly going through for the last few years. Sailor Moon.
I’ve (Celeste) been watching sailor moon probably since about 2016. And to be honest those first few episodes were a little rough watching. Usagi is really whiny… And cries a lot… And is very obsessed with boys. :face_with_rolling_eyes:. It’s just a bit much. But I had heard some awesome things about the show from friends who had watched it when it came out so I was pushing through slowly but surely. Recently the show has been getting more depth to the story telling and Usagi’s character had become less whiny. She still has her moments at the point in the show I’m at. (S1E30 as of this recording.) But she has shown growth as a person and has learned and adapted from her mistakes and her experiences.
Paul talks about this with the Corinthians.
“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.”
1 Corinthians 13:11 ESV
As Christian’s we go through life and we start out with the very simple Gospel of everyone is born a sinner and Jesus died as a sacrifice to enable a way for you to go to heaven. That is the gospel. It’s so simple and so complex at the same time. But once you have accepted that you begin the journey of living for God. And sometimes that’s harder. We want to be whiny, and cry when we don’t get our way. Or when life isn’t fair. As we grow these things that originally were so difficult are no longer difficult. We have worked our Spiritual muscles enough that they can now take on things such as praying and reading the Bible. And things like reading the scriptures and praying help us to grow. So today’s devotion is more of an encouragement. Be like Usagi and grow as you follow God. As you go from drinking the “milk” of the word to eating meat and Understanding things better!
Question of the week:
Which is your favorite sailor Scout? Honestly I think Luna is my favorite. After her it would be Mars or Jupiter.
