The presents have been unwrapped, the candles extinguished, and the Christmas festivities have ended. As we enter the days after Christmas, a question lingers: What now? This reflection isn’t just about packing away decorations or returning to routine but about carrying the season’s essence forward.
This final episode of Geekmas invites us to explore how we can move beyond the celebration of Christmas and live out its meaning daily.
The Season of Waiting
Christmas is more than a single day; it’s a season of reflection, joy, and anticipation. For many, this anticipation is embodied in traditions like Advent, where we pause each day to focus on the coming of Christ. This year, Dallas and I spent our evenings sipping tea, opening advent surprises, and diving into scripture.
Advent reminds us of the waiting—not just the anticipation of Christmas but the broader waiting we experience as Christians. Christ’s birth marked the fulfillment of prophecies and the arrival of our Savior. Yet, we also live in a season of waiting for His return and the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promises.
This waiting isn’t just global; it’s deeply personal. Many of us experience waiting seasons in our lives, whether for answers, healing, or direction.
Lessons from Philippians
As we ponder how to move forward, Philippians 2:1-4 offers guidance:
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Christ’s humility is one of the most profound lessons of Christmas. He didn’t come as a conquering king but as a vulnerable baby. This act of humility sets an example for us to follow.
Living Out the Christmas Spirit
Paul’s words to the Philippians encourage us to adopt an attitude of humility, affection, and service—not just during Christmas but throughout the year.
- Serve Others: Look to the needs of those around you, whether family, friends, or strangers.
- Balance Care: While serving others, don’t neglect your own needs. Paul also reminds us to care for ourselves, ensuring we can continue to serve effectively.
- Be Christlike Year-Round: The true meaning of “keeping Christmas in your heart” is living out Christ’s example every day.
As life resumes its everyday busyness, it’s easy to lose sight of these principles. But the call to humility and service remains.
A Final Encouragement
The end of the Christmas season isn’t the end of its lessons. It’s an invitation to carry the Spirit of Christ’s humility, love, and service into every corner of our lives.
Yes, we’re human, and we’ll stumble along the way. But each day offers a new opportunity to grow, improve, and reflect Christ more fully.
So as we move forward, let’s embrace the challenge to live out the heart of Christmas—not just for a season, but all year long.
