In the latest episode of Geek Devotions, Dallas dives into his excitement over Gundam Breaker 4, but as always, he takes the opportunity to point to a deeper truth—a life lesson we all can learn from. The process of refining, whether in the game or in life, is something we all go through.

In Gundam Breaker 4, players start off with an RX-78, a classic model, but one that isn’t very strong in the beginning. The journey begins with battling other Gunpla, breaking off parts, and gradually upgrading your model by integrating new, more vital pieces. As players move through the game, they eventually can synthesize pieces to create a customized, powerful Gundam. But that process is not instant. It takes time, effort, and patience to gather the right parts and determine how they work together.

Dallas draws a clear parallel to our own lives. Like a Gunpla, we are all in the process of being built up and refined. Whether learning a new skill, growing in our careers, or developing our walk with God, none happens overnight. The frustration of not being where we want to be is real, but as Dallas reminds us, it’s all part of the process.

Reflecting on his own faith journey, Dallas recalls 1 Corinthians 3:2, where Paul tells the church in Corinth, “I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it.” Paul’s words speak to the reality that growth takes time. Just as players can’t handle the best parts of the game without understanding the basics, we often need to work through the foundational steps of our personal growth before we’re ready for more significant challenges.

It’s easy to get discouraged when we aren’t progressing as fast as we’d like. But as Dallas points out, it’s essential to remember that every small step is part of the bigger picture. The small victories, the frustrations, and the learning moments all come together to shape us into who we are meant to be.

In Gundam Breaker 4, refining your Gunpla and personal growth takes time. Whether you’re trying to be a better artist photographer or simply growing in your faith, the key is to keep going. Don’t despise the small beginnings; instead, recognize that every piece of progress, no matter how small, adds up to something greater.

Reflection Questions:

  • What area of your life are you in the process of refining?
  • How have you seen growth in yourself, even in areas where you’ve felt frustrated?

Take some time to reflect on the small steps you’ve taken and your progress. Like in Gundam Breaker 4, each part matters, and each piece you add brings you closer to who you are becoming.
