In leading up to the beginning of season 5 we are doing a countdown of our first episodes from the past 4 seasons, while allowing for Dallas and Celeste to take a break from Friday Devotions to plan for season 5. This week we take a look at the Retro Episode Season 4 Episode 1: “The Dangers of Being Quick to be Angry” Originally Aired August 2nd 2019.

Today on Geek Devotions we will be talking about Batman vs Ninja and Why you should be slow to anger. So for some reason Shredder is in Gotham and causing havoc, and everyone’s favorite turtles are around trying to stop things before they get bad. In the meantime they run into batman because it is his city… and you can not be in his city and not run into him. The first run in with TMNT is quick interesting because he has just had a run in with Shredder so he assumes that they are with the Shredder. Well true to raph style, he rushes in and attacks batman before determining that Batman would be a great addition to their team. So the other 4 follow him because… team work… and family. Fight ends when they ninja disappear because they had their shells handed to them. We would like to say that this was the only time that one of this team has rushed in like this… but sadly we can not. It gets so bad at one point that Batman tells the turtles (after teaming up with them) that they can’t help anymore. They are just to unreliable when it comes to getting angry, and it is dangerous for the rest of the bat-team. At one point they make matters wore because they did not stop and assess the situation. They allowed fear and anger to take over and lead them into a situation that was unsafe.

We as human beings can do the same thing. We can make decisions, and actions based on fear and anger, rather than waiting till we have all the information. We jump into potentially dangerous situations. We are warned in scriptures that we don’t need to do that.

“Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger—for human anger doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.”

James 1:19-20

Us responding in anger helps no one in the situation, but if we pause and listen then we may see there is a easier and quicker way out of the situation that we are in.

Challenge of the Week: How do you pump the brakes, and become quick to listen and slow to anger? Practical answers. Maybe it is take deep breathes. We want to know because this is something that we are growing in as well.

Question of the Week: Batman vs TMNT is a bit of an odd mashup, and it was strange to watch that take place. What Classic characters would you like to watch a mashup of?
