This week on Geek Devotions, Celeste dives into Matthew 10:42 and what it means to give “a cup of cold water” in Jesus’ name. From convention floors at Geek’d Con to everyday encounters at work or even the drive-thru, the way we treat others reflects Christ to the world around us. Sometimes the smallest act of kindness can open someone’s heart to the love of God.
This devo is all about how our faith shows up in everyday life—whether at a convention, at work, or even grabbing fast food. Watch now and be encouraged: you are loved, you are cared for, and God has a plan and purpose for your life.

This week on Geek Devotions, Celeste shared from Matthew 10:42, a verse that’s been on her mind since their most recent Pray and Play stream:
“And whoever gives one of these little ones, even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
She explained that Jesus wasn’t just encouraging random acts of kindness, but reminding His disciples that when good things are done in His name, they matter. When paired with passages like 2 Corinthians 4:5-6, a clearer picture emerges: believers are called to be reflections of Christ, showing His love and character to those around them.
Celeste pointed out that sometimes Christians are the only version of Jesus that people will ever see. If a believer is kind, others may conclude that Jesus is kind. If a believer extends grace, it paints a picture of Jesus as gracious. This doesn’t mean perfection is required to be a child of God, but constant growth in your walk with Him is part of what it means to be a Christian. In fact, when mistakes occur, admitting fault and asking for forgiveness can be just as powerful a testimony, demonstrating that following Christ is about growth, humility, and grace.
At events like Geek’d Con, Celeste and Dallas see this principle in action. While they didn’t literally hand out cups of water, they embraced opportunities to represent Christ among fellow geeks, vendors, and guests. Simply being present with the intention of letting people know that they are loved by God became their “cup of cold water.”
Celeste also noted how everyday kindness carries the same weight. Something as simple as thanking a fast-food worker by name can brighten someone’s day and reflect the heart of Christ. These small actions, done intentionally, become moments of ministry.
Her encouragement for the week was clear: as believers go about daily life, they should strive to be better reflections of Christ. Whether at a convention, at work, or simply running errands, each interaction is a chance to carry His light into the world.
