Geek'd Con 2025 Recap | CT 206 – Comm Talk by Geek Devotions
Highlights from Geek’d Con
One of the biggest wins of the weekend was simply being with the community. Dozens of people stopped by the Geek Devotions booth to say hello, some of whom had followed the ministry for years but had never had the opportunity to interact directly. Dallas and Celeste were reminded that even when online engagement seems quiet, lives are still being touched. Stories like Josh’s testimony about his daughter, and the young lady who had been quietly watching their content before finally introducing herself, were huge encouragements.
The booth also became a safe hangout spot for con-goers who needed a break from the chaos. Some simply rested for a few minutes, while others stayed for the entire weekend, forming new friendships and finding encouragement. Celeste shared how handing out nearly an entire box of business cards was a sign of impact, hundreds of seeds planted for future encouragement.
Special Encounters
The Geek Devotions crew had a blast reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. They spent time with Ron from Studio Bless and his team, cheered on creative cosplayers, and encouraged attendees who weren’t sure their costumes were “good enough.” They even ran into long-time “con family” like John Stout (the “Con Dad”), Donna from Midnight Chaos Cosplay, and Roland Paris, who always bring fun and encouragement to the floor.
Celeste also had a special personal moment: her dad joined her at the con for some father-daughter geek time. She got to introduce him to friends from the convention community, the same friends who had become part of Geek Devotions’ story over the years.
And yes, she finally met actor John Barrowman and shared a sweet takeaway from his panel: never apologize for having fun.
Challenges Along the Way
Not everything went smoothly. The team joked about missing out on their favorite cinnamon cashews, and they had a few moments of “vendor regret” after waiting too long to make purchases. However, the most challenging moment came when a man spent nearly 45 minutes at their booth criticizing their ministry, questioning their faith, and suggesting that some people were beyond salvation. While it was frustrating, Dallas and Celeste handled the encounter with grace, hoping that their response modeled the truth of the gospel for others listening nearby.
A Weekend Full of Memories
The episode also takes listeners through photo highlights from the weekend, featuring clever cosplays (such as a Brooklyn-style Spider-Man and a spot-on Christopher Eccleston Doctor Who) to silly moments with friends (like Dale as the Hamburglar getting his meal “stolen” at Whataburger). They celebrated attendees who went out of their way to share their stories, showcase their art, or simply say goodbye at the end of each day.
Perhaps most meaningful was seeing people return year after year. The Geek Devotions booth wasn’t just a vendor table; it became a place of connection, encouragement, and even ministry moments that left a lasting impact.
Geek’d Con 2025 was more than just another con. For Dallas and Celeste, it was proof that what they’re doing matters, whether through conversations, cosplay encouragement, or simply offering a place to belong. They left tired but deeply grateful, already looking forward to next year.
