It will give all our resident books worms, book wyrms, or even our book dragons a chance to have some accountability when it comes to reading the books they already own. One of the things that our lovely readers can do in order to have points taken off, like any good game of golf, is a written or video review. The following review is one that I wrote a while ago but have yet to publish, so we hope you enjoy the potential first of many Backlog Golf book reviews

Book Title: Ashoka

Author: E.K. Johnston

One year after episode 3, Revenge of the Sith, the Empire is just beginning. An idealist leans on how to handle the magnitude of death, Rebellions, and losing friends. Very much Y.A. fiction, though very well done, Ahsoka does fail in one respect. The author assumes that you have seen the clone wars series as well as Revenge of the Sith.

Ahsoka is a fantastic character who deserved more screen time than what was afforded to her. E.K. Johnstons’ portrayal of her does a phenomenal job of bringing out the mature lessons that Ahsoka needed to learn in the time frame between Episode 3 and when we see her next in Star Wars Rebels.

One of my favorite quotes from the books this “The Red crystals were corrupted by the Darkside when those who wield them bent them to their will. They call it making the crystal bleed. That’s why the blade is red.” This bit of insight into the lore of the world will haunt you every time you see a red lightsaber.

Overall, Geek Devotions gives E.K. Johnston’s Ahsoka a 5 out of 5 Glix’s. We look forward to reading some of Johnsons’ other works, such as Queens Shadow and Dragonslayer of Trondheim.
