Currently, there’s a lot of churches who are attempting to figure out how to minister to their congregation while the world deals with COVID-19. Many churches will attempt to their very first Live Stream this weekend. This video has 3 essential tips every pastor needs before they go live. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us here at Geek Devotions. We’d love to walk you through a few things.

Tips:

  • 1.Encourage communication through the chat box during the sermon.

The best way to do that is to have a team of people set to go as moderators who will be in the chat to encourage, communicate, and pray with people as things pop up

  • 2.This is no longer the 4 walls of your church.

Keep in mind that this is akin to preaching and teaching in a public space. You may have some people who are unsavory or who have ill motives in the chat. Part of your moderator teams job will be to let people know that this is a “family friendly stream” and to please be respectful. The other side to this is that the moderator team will have the ability to mute and block people should they refuse to be respectful of what is happening in the stream. Do not let this scare you away from streaming your services. This situation will bring about a great opportunity to let people know about the Lord that may not listen in different circumstances.

  • 3. Bring the Same Passion that you would to a room full of people.

This may be the most important point of all. Bring the same passion and energy that you would to your four walls and pulpit to this digital space. We truly believe that revival can happen when pastors realize that the “fire shut up in your bones” needs to be fanned by the Holy Spirit and not the amen’s and responses of the crowd. Understand that you are bringing the Word of God and that deserves the same response from you that it would get under any other circumstance.

Remember through all of this to give yourself grace. You are facing a new frontier to you, and that requires understanding and grace, but you can do this through God.
