This week on Geek Devotions Celeste takes a look Episode 2 of Doom Patrol and the infamous Donkey… That donkey looked like it was providing the right path… but in the end, they realized it was a trap. In our lives, we will be faced with paths that seem right by human perspectives. But sometimes they are a trap. So how do we know which way to go?
Today we are talking about the DC original show called Doom Patrol. Now This show Dallas and I love it because the heroes aren’t your ordinary heroes. They have powers, but they are also a hot mess. Pretty sure a few of them have tickets on the hot mess express >.< For those of you that don’t know the Doom Patrol is a group of people who have powers that are not your typical flying, speed, strength type powers. They live in a house with a man they call the Cheif and eventually begin to help out in the outside world around them.

In the 2nd episode of season 1, we see The Chief kidnapped by a name we know as Mr.Nobody, and all that is left after this is a donkey. Cyborg has entered the scene to try and find The Chief and is inspecting the donkey, originally the scans he made came back as it is just a normal donkey. Now we know that this is not just a normal donkey because it spits jane back out, so cyborg begins to scan it a little more in depth. Upon which he realizes that The Donkey is a door. As you discover later throughout the episode, yes… the donkey is a door. But the donkey is also a trap.
In John 14:4-7 Jesus tells his disciples “And you know the way to where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way? Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen him.” (ESV)
We also see in Matthew 7:13 Jesus told a crowd, “Enter by the narrow Gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.” (ESV)
Both of these scriptures are pointing us to the fact that Jesus is the way to heaven, but there are other gates or doors, and they thought they look good and look easy, they are the paths to destruction. That Donkey seemed pretty normal, but it was a deception. It leads to hurt, pain, and mental torture. The correct path for your life is Jesus. It’s not easy, it’s not always fun, but it is always good. So the takeaway for this week, have you or those around you( family, friends, etc.) chosen the correct door? Or did have you been lured into a trap, that turns out to be nothing more than a donkey?
