Thanks to our Devoted Patreon Geeks, we were able to get our hands onto DC Universe. This week’s devotional is a direct result of that! This week Celeste takes a look at an interesting scene from Episode 7 of Titans. In this episode, called Asylum, Dick wrestles with his hurt and finally decides to do something physically that symbolically helped him get some healing, he burned his Robin costume. What’s interesting about this is that there may be times where we, in a similar action, need to do something physical to walk out our healing. To learn more check out this episode!

Today we are going to be talking about Titans! Specifically Robin (Dick Grayson). Now for those of you haven’t had a chance to see Titans or don’t have DC Universe yet, here is your Spoilers warning.

In last week’s episode, called “Asylum,” we see Dick burning the Robin suit after having struggled with his Robin persona in depth due to some drugs that were given to him. His struggle with his identity as Robin has been a theme the whole season. Dick is continuously struggling with who and what he has grown into. He has some hurts that have not healed, or have healed incorrectly. And dealing with this has been rough for him, and rough to watch.

As human beings, we are going to run into things that hurt us. There will be times that we need healing physically, spiritually and emotionally. The great thing is that have the promise that God will heal us. But sometimes we have to do something, to walk out our healing. A lot of times we have an action that must be taken such as getting rid of mindsets or habits that lead us back to that place of hurt.  Sometimes it requires us getting things out of the house that doesn’t help us. If you are diabetic, you don’t keep a case of full sugar soda in the house. You get rid of that stuff!

In the episode of Titans, we saw Robin burn the Robin suit. This was him symbolically letting go of the pain that was associated with that. At least that seemed to be what was happening. We’ll discover more in later episodes.

Jesus gives us a great example in John 5:5-8, about someone taking action in walking out their healing.

Now a certain man had been an invalid there for thirty-eight years. Seeing him lying there and knowing he had been that way a long time, Yeshua said to him, “Do you want to get well?” The invalid answered Him, “Sir, I have nobody to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I’m trying to get in, somebody else steps down before me!” Yeshua tells him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk!”

John 5:5-8 TLV

Jesus spoke, and the man was healed. But at that moment he needed to do something. He had to take action. Truth is that he’d been there for most of his life. He’d become comfortable with the lifestyle. Now that he’s been healed, he had to take responsibility. He had to get a job, become a productive member society. The handouts were no longer coming his way. Getting up, picking up his mat; that was the first step in his complete healing.

So if your needing healing spiritually or emotionally, prays, and see what you can do practically to walk out that healing. What area of your life do you need to take responsibility in?
