Special guests Comic Talk616 take over Geek Devotions this week to finish up our Jurassic Park leg of our Summer Serial Event! This week the gang takes a look at Blue in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Blue’s story is tragic and he had to overcome a lot of obstacles in life, yet she is still a hero in this film. Similarly, many people go through a lot of obstacles in life and some have a pretty shady past, but are they still worthy of being used for God’s Glory? Check out this episode and find out!

In this week’s episode, our friends over at Comic Talk616 find that themselves and possibly many others relate to Blue from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom more than they may have thought. In the movie, Blue is a raptor who has been through a lot of things. She is seemingly an animal that should be tossed to the side. She was abused and used in a lot of ways. Yet in the film we find her to be used as a central hero. She doesn’t look so pretty and historic from the outside of things but there really was something special about her.

Comic Talk616 saw this as a reminder to the following verse

He spoke in the presence of his brothers and the wealthy men of Samaria and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Are they going to restore it for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices? Can they finish in a day? Can they revive the stones from the dusty rubble even the burned ones?”
Nehemiah 4:2

In the passage the idea of using the “burned stones” is pointless. They are stones that could be tossed to the side, yet the people of God were still going to use them. Even though they were what most would see as something useless God still used them to build something that glorifies Him.

Maybe you’re like Blue and these burned stones. Maybe you’ve had a hard life, maybe you’ve said and done things that you’re not proud of. Maybe on the outside, people look down on you and see you as less than. But the truth is that God still has a plan and purpose for you.  He loves you more than you could ever imagine at any moment will welcome you into His family with open arms.

Don’t let the standards of the world, don’t let your own fears don’t let bad examples of the Church keep you from being used for God’s glory. For more info on this check out the above episode.
