Our recommendations of Shonen style anime!
(Anime for Boys)

Kids:

Susan recommended Pokemon. Over all she felt it was a great fit for younger watchers as it is a fun series that teaches team work and inspires kids to adventure!

IMDB Description: Ash Ketchum and his partner Pikachu travel across many regions in hopes of becoming a ‘Pokémon master’. Their goals are to catch and train every Pokémon animal kind as well as competing in special battles to qualify for the regional league.

Dallas recommended Digimon. Dallas felt that Digimon carried a lot of the same strengths that Pokemon had but had a more of a Sci-fi adventure feel to it

IMDB Description: A group of young teens is unexpectedly sent to the mysterious Digital World and paired up with their own powerful, morphing monster called the Digimon. Together the entire group set out on an adventure to fight evil and save the world.

Teens:

Susan recommended Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. She felt the more mature tone balanced with the comedy was a great combination for teenagers

IMDB Description: Two brothers search for a Philosopher’s Stone after an attempt to revive their deceased mother goes awry and leaves them in damaged physical forms.

Dallas recommended Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X. Samurai X gives you the back story to Rurouni Kenshi. Both series have a great balance and comedy while take place in historic Japanese era.

IMDB Description: The adventures of a young wandering swordsman who stumbles upon a struggling martial arts school in Meiji era Japan.

Adults:

Susan recommended Mobile Suite Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. This darker space wars series deals with a lots of adult themes such as the necessity of war and those who are pulled into war.

IMDB Description: 300 years after the Calamity War, a ragtag group of freedom fighters and an ancient Mobile Suit rise to the call for justice, once and for all.

Dallas recommended Erased. Erase is a physiological murder mystery where a man travels back in time to stop a series of child kidnappings and murders, along with saving his mother in present day.

IMDB Description: 29 year old Satoru Fujinuma is sent back in time 18 years to prevent the events leading to his mother’s death, which began with a series of kidnappings in his 5th grade year.
